This is a river delta found in Senegal, this river flows into the Atlantic Ocean and this delta covers over 180000 hectares. The delta within the park extends 35km inland and 72km along the coastline. The park has got over 200 islands and islets with mangrove forests associated with Atlantic marine Environment
The park is also well known for its bird species that migrate to the area due to the massive winter in Europe and among the noted birds usually seen here includes the Royal tern, Eurasian Spoonbill, greater flamingo, Curlew sandpiper and the little stint.
At the park is the 218 shell fish mound, artefacts that are unearthed with burial grounds that give an insight of the human occupation around the area
