Day2: Flight to Kasese airstrip for Kibale chimps

One of the most varied tracts of tropical forest in Uganda. Known for its 11 primate species, over 300 bird species and population of chimpanzees, Kibale Forest is home to 11 species of primates. You may also spot Mangabeys and a vast array of butterflies. Take a guided walk in the wildlife-rich Bigodi Forest swamp, an excellent chance to view birds, sitatunga, mongooses, bush pigs, otters and bush bucks.

Day3: Chimpanzee Trekking

Rise early this morning for the short drive to the start of your chimpanzee trek. The chimpanzees feed high in the trees, so binoculars are a must. Barks of baboons occasionally pierce the forest silence as you make your way along the trail.

You will be able to locate the chimps by listening for their pant-hooting calls, then hustle to the area from which they are calling.  You should be able to observe them as they feed in fruiting trees, lounge, socialize with each other, or even, occasionally hunt. You will be allowed one hour in the presence of the chimpanzees.

Day4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, hippos, buffalo and baboons. Offering magnificent views of the rift valley, it is also known for its tree-climbing lions. Take views of the Rwenzori Mountains from your camp.

Day5: Game drive in the northern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park

Very early in the morning, go for a game drive in the northern part of the park on the Kasenyi Track in search of lions, elephants, and solitary buffaloes. This is the best time for opportunities of viewing the cats in action owing to the vast population of Uganda Kobs.

In the afternoon, go for a launch trip along the Kazinga Channel. This gives you the opportunity to view wildlife up close: hippos huff and spray at mere foot away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink-backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle-billed stork, and many others.

Day6: Go for climbing lions in the Ishasha sector

You will be able to see the cubs playing and hanging in the tree branches as well as the older lions as you drive in search for them. This is one experience that you are likely never to forget and you will be able to take videos and photos of the lions lazing around in the tree. The lions normally climb the acacia and sycamore fig trees and they climb the trees because the trees provide enough shelter during both the sunny and rainy season.

Day7: Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park

Take a flight from Ishasha to Kihihi airstrip. Find the driver guide ready waiting to transfer you to Bwindi. Check in your preferred camp for lunch and refreshing. Take an afternoon walk in the Batwa communities as you warm up for the next day for gorilla trekking. Get to know about the medicine men and how the medicine works. Back to camp for overnight and dinner.

Day8: Gorilla Trekking
