Gola Rainforest National Park

This park was declared into a full national park by Ernest Bai Koroma the then president of Sierra Leone in 2010. This was as a result of merging the Gola north forest reserve, Gola east forest reserve, Gola west forest reserve. This is the second largest national park in the country. This covers 71070 hectares and it’s located in eastern park.

This forest is a home to more than 650 butterfly species, and 330 bird species plus the over 49 mammal species. The park is a home to over 300 chimpanzees, pygmy hippopotamuses and the forest elephants.
