Enjoy the 05 weeks self-drive Kenya Uganda and Rwanda safari, the best road trip safari in East Africa through the 3 beautiful countries and these are Uganda which is the Pearl of Africa called by Churchill Winston because of its beauty, abundant wildlife and diversity. Rwanda is now called the Remarkable Rwanda, known as the land of a thousand hills and Kenya’s magical view, a classic safari destination.

The 4×4 road trip will start from Kenya in Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara with endless plains filled with hundreds of wildlife, you cross to Uganda and visit Queen Elizabeth for game drive and boat cruise, proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for gorilla trekking. And then to Rwanda for gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park.

When you arrive at Nairobi Airport, our company representative from Self-drive Kigali will be ready waiting to hand over the car to you with a small briefing. Our 4×4 vehicles are well equipped with rooftop tent and camping equipment which give you the opportunity to camp in the wilderness.  Set off from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru, a soda lake located in Rift Valley and surrounded by fenced areas, is a must-visit destination for wildlife enthusiasts.

The park offers an excellent opportunity to spot rhinoceroses, making it one of the best places in Africa for such sightings. In addition to rhinos, the lake boasts numerous flamingos and other animals that can be observed during safaris. The features stunning natural beauty that makes it well worth the visit. Lake Nakuru National Park is a rewarding game-viewing, even on a short visit, combined with great lake views. It is home to warthogs, water buck, buffaloes, reed buck, and the occasional leopard.

The park has also retained its reputation as an ornithologist’s delight, with more than 400 species of birds found here. Arrive in time for a hot lunch at Flamingo Hill Camp. Enjoy an evening game drive at Lake Nakuru National Park. By 6:00pm back to the camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve via Lake Naivasha. You can depart after a very early breakfast for the famous Masai Mara National Reserve via Lake Naivasha. You can talk to the park guide to organize a boat ride within Lake Naivasha at a minimal cost, payable directly.

Proceed with your self-driving tour on to Masai Mara after your boat ride. Arrive at Masai Mara National Reserve in time for a hot lunch at the camp. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic orange-tinted sunsets, which you would like to capture while sipping sun downers.

The Masai Mara National Reserve is 1510sq km of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile woodland following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers. Wherever you go in the reserve, you will see a large number of wildlife, such as Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impala, and wildebeest.

Arrive in time for your hot lunch at the camp. The evening game drive begins at 3:00pm until 6:00pm. At the end of the game drive, you will transfer yourselves to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Masai Mara National Reserve all day self-driving tour. Your lodge is set high on a bush-cloaked hill with views over the Savannah and down to the winding coils of the hippo-filled Mara River.

The Mara River is the center stage of one of Africa’s most dramatic wildlife arenas, with a ringside seat for the greatest wildlife show on earth, the legendary wildebeest migration. Enjoy a full-day game drive with your private safari Land Cruiser until late evening.

After the game drive, at around 6:00pm, you will transfer back to the camp for dinner and overnight as you prepare to cross to Uganda the Pearl of Africa.

The following day you will be driving from Masai Mara National Reserve via Kisumu to Uganda. You will wake up in the morning, have breakfast, after breakfast, you set off your safari jeep back to Uganda the Pearl of Africa via Kisumu in Kenya and then to Uganda’s Malaba border will drive you to the hotel as you prepare for the next activities in Uganda.

The driving distance between Mara and Uganda is approximately 777.42 km. Note that East Africa Visa allows you entry in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda for 100 USD, multiple entries for 90 days. You can drive up to Jinja town and stay for dinner and overnight at the Nile River Explorers Camp at the shores of the River Nile near the former Bujjagali point.

Next day drive from Jinja to Kampala, wake up in the morning, take breakfast and after drive to visit the Itanda Falls in Jinja. The Itanda Falls, also known as the White Nike, offers an impressive display of falls and rapids. Visitors can embark on a comprehensive tour which includes a boat ride, allowing them to explore small islands and witness more of the stunning waterfalls and rapids.

The friendly and knowledgeable hosts enhance the experience. However, it is important to note that entry fees may vary for foreigners or ‘muzungu’, necessitating negotiation with local hosts. After the experience, you will head to Kampala for dinner and overnight stay at any lodge of your choice.

The following day, from Kampala you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On this beautiful day, you will -hit the road trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the distance takes about 6-7 hours. You will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe for photographs and here you will have a chance to stand in the hemispheres of the Earth (Southern and Northern Hemisphere), you will continue with the journey, have lunch en-route in Mbarara town and then proceed. You will arrive in the evening hours, check-in the lodge/camp, have dinner and overnight.

Next day you will set off for a morning game drive and later in the afternoon for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. Arise in the morning, have breakfast, meet your driver guide and go for morning game drive to catch the animals when they are still very active. You will drive to Kasenyi plains normally known as the mating ground, you will spot lions, buffaloes, antelopes, birds and so many others.

Return to the lodge for lunch and then head to Kazinga channel for the boat cruise tour to encounter huge numbers of elephants, buffaloes, hippopotamus, crocodiles, birds and other aquatic life. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via Ishasha sector. You will wake up in the morning, have breakfast and check-out of the lodge and drive off to Bwindi. You will have a drive to Ishasha sector to search for tree climbing lions, spot other wildlife and from here you will have a picnic lunch at the animal view point thereafter, say a farewell to Queen Elizabeth and set off for Bwindi arriving in the evening, check-in the lodge/camp, have dinner and overnight stay.

The long awaited day is here. Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural tour. You will wake up in the morning, have breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing, you will be taught about the trekking behaviors and then be allocated the gorilla family to trek. You will go with the ranger guide who will lead you to gorilla family, you will spend an hour in the presence of gorillas. You will take pictures and videos and then return to the lodge/camp for lunch and then go to visit the Batwa/Pygmies. You will meet the shortest people in the world who have lived in the forests since the time memorial, they will dance for you, sing for you and then return to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and Canoeing. You will rise in the morning, have breakfast and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi where you will arrive in the afternoon hours, check-in the lodge have lunch and then go for canoeing. You will visit different Islands including the Akempene Island also known as the Punishment Island. It is where the Bakiga ladies who would conceive before marriage would be taken and abandoned till death. You will spot so many birds, return to the lodge after the sunset for dinner and overnight.

With our 4×4 fleet jeeps transfer to Rwanda and then to Volcanoes National Park. Arise in the morning, have breakfast and transfer to Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills. Volcanoes National Park is located in the Virunga massif, home to mountain gorillas and the golden monkey alongside various mountaineering trips and winding roads in the land of a thousand hills.

Rwanda gorilla trekking safari. Start the day with an early breakfast which should be ready by 6 am. Depart from the lodge at 7 am to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing and for the gorilla family allocation. As your guide registers you, you will be entertained with the traditional dance called the Intore dance group and tea or coffee will also be available. If you wish to track a closer group, you will have to inform the guide.

Once you are allocated a gorilla family, you will be briefed about the entire tracking, the rules and regulations, and then transferred to the starting point. For those who need porters, they will be available at the start of the trail. Walk along the different trails in search of the gorillas, with the guidance of the park rangers. Once you meet the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour following them before returning to the starting point, where your guides will be waiting for you. Back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Next day go for the Golden monkey tracking. After breakfast, you will start trekking the golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park. Later in the afternoon, you will visit the Iby’Iwacu village community for an insight into the cultures of the people of Rwanda. Later in the evening, you will drive to Gisenyi near Lake Kivu.

Last day enjoy a Lake Kivu boat ride. Directly after breakfast, you will go for a boat ride on Lake Kivu and also visit the hot water springs. Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, you will continue with self-drive to Kigali. Visit the souvenir shops before you transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
